UK Approves North Sea Jackdaw Gas Field Development
The UK government has approved the Jackdaw natural gas field off Scotland, saying it will strengthen energy security, boost UK gas output by about 6% at peak and start supplying households this month. Energy Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh acknowledged the project will not cut bills, drawing criticism from the Green Party and Greenpeace, who call it climate vandalism and a win for fossil fuel lobbyists.
