Japanese food maker and pastry chef unveil chocolate made from domestic cacao
A food manufacturer and pastry chef in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, unveiled chocolate bars made entirely from domestically grown cacao on Wednesday, addressing global supply issues and price surges. The initiative, led by Shizuoka Chocolates and chef Yoshihiro Takahashi, uses cacao from trial farms on the Izu Peninsula. With world cacao prices more than doubling in two years, the project aims to reduce import dependence and target the premium market.
