Samoa PM apologizes after video of Nazi salute surfaces
Samoa Prime Minister La'auli Leuatea Schmidt apologized Monday after the Samoa Observer published a previously unreleased seven-second video showing him giving a Nazi salute and saying "Heil Hitler" at a 2007 family reunion on Savai'i island. Schmidt said the words and gestures were inappropriate and rejected Nazism, anti-Semitism and racism, while critics including historian Richard Evans called the footage shocking and disturbing.
