Yemen: Millions of Children Malnourished as Aid Falls Short and Fails to Address Root Causes
More than 2.2 million children under five in Yemen are acutely malnourished, over half a million of them severely, as a 12-year war leaves 22 million people needing humanitarian aid and 18.3 million facing acute food insecurity. Al Jazeera's investigation finds this year's funding covers only about a fifth of the $2.2 billion needed, and that assistance largely treats symptoms while root causes — war, poverty and displacement — remain unaddressed.
