Paraguay resumes Pena impeachment proceedings as financial crisis deepens
Paraguay's Senate has resumed impeachment proceedings against President Santiago Pena, a day after he resigned over his links to the country's worst financial crisis in decades. The crisis was triggered by the collapse of digital lender Ueno Bank, which held $850m in public funds and has left more than half the population without access to their accounts. Lawmakers accuse Pena of a conflict of interest over his former stake in Ueno's parent company.
