International court rules UK does not owe Rwanda £100 million over failed asylum deal
The Permanent Court of Arbitration has ruled that the UK does not have to pay Rwanda more than £100 million in compensation for cancelling a deportation deal. The agreement, signed by Boris Johnson in 2022, was scrapped by Keir Starmer’s government in 2024. The court rejected all of Rwanda’s claims, including payments and damages.
