Eight orangutans returned to protected forest after rescue from Indonesian wildfires
Eight critically endangered orangutans have been released into a protected forest in Borneo, Indonesia, weeks after wildfires destroyed much of their habitat, a conservation organization said. The release followed a period of rescue and care and forms part of long-term efforts to protect the species from population decline.
