Uganda launches emergency food distribution after 19 die of hunger
Uganda has launched an emergency food distribution program after at least 19 people died of hunger in the drought-hit eastern Karamoja region. The government plans to deliver 9,400 tonnes of relief food using an emergency budget of 45 billion shillings (about £9 million). The crisis has left 1.5 million people facing severe food shortages and malnutrition, with health facilities treating hundreds of children for severe hunger.
