New York Declares Emergency as Measles Outbreak Resurges Across the U.S.
New York has declared a measles emergency after recording 108 cases this year, with 92 since July 15 in rural communities with low vaccination rates. The declaration, in effect until November 4, expands health workers' authority to give MMR shots. Pennsylvania has reported over 1,000 cases, the largest U.S. outbreak in three decades, with cases also in Texas, Utah, Ohio and South Carolina.
