Sudan factories struggle to restart after devastating wartime losses
Sudan's manufacturing sector is struggling to recover more than three years after war erupted in April 2023, with the Ministry of Industry reporting about 1,800 industrial facilities damaged, including 650 completely destroyed. Factory owners in Khartoum face lost machinery, looted warehouses, power shortages and scarce capital, while workers remain jobless and consumers pay more for scarce locally made goods.
