UNESCO Advisory Body Recommends Asuka-Fujiwara Archaeological Sites for World Heritage Listing
An advisory body to UNESCO has recommended adding the Asuka-Fujiwara archaeological sites in Nara Prefecture to the World Cultural Heritage list. The sites, dating from the 6th to 7th centuries, showcase Japan's early centralized state formation. The final decision by UNESCO's World Heritage Committee is expected in July.
