India Tightens Online Content Censorship as Anti-Modi Protests Spread
Indian artists say satirical and critical online content is being removed after the government tightened internet content rules, amid growing protests against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the election commission. Comedian Brijesh Jha's Instagram parody about voter-roll deletions drew 1.7 million views before Meta removed it citing "local law," while cartoonist Satish Acharya's account was also blocked in India.
