US delegation walks out as France speaks at UN Security Council
American diplomats walked out of a UN Security Council meeting as France began to speak, amid a dispute over the reappointment of UN human rights chief Volker Turk. The walkout followed French criticism that the US was no longer a human rights beacon. US alternate representative Dan Negrea said the delegation would continue this action until France abandoned condescending rhetoric.
