Awa Odori Dance Festival Opens with 600 Dancers
The Awa Odori dance festival, one of Japan's signature summer events, opened Tuesday in Tokushima Prefecture with a joint performance by about 600 artists from leading local dance troupes. The event, which has a history of over 400 years, runs through mid-August and draws thousands of visitors.
