China Sanctions Paraguay, Belize Ministers Over Taiwan Ties
China's Foreign Ministry announced sanctions on Paraguay's communications minister, Gustavo Villate, and Belize's foreign minister, Francis Fonseca, accusing them of links to Taiwan and saying the measures protect national sovereignty. The sanctions freeze their assets in China, bar them from Hong Kong and Macau visas, and prohibit Chinese entities from doing business with them.
