UNICEF warns Somalia child malnutrition crisis worsens after aid cuts
UNICEF on August 21 warned that life-threatening child malnutrition in Somalia is worsening sharply, with over 200 health and nutrition facilities closed due to international aid cuts. Admissions for severe acute malnutrition rose 32 percent in the first half of 2026, and nearly 1.9 million children are expected to be malnourished this year.
