Former National Security Adviser John Bolton Agrees to Plead Guilty in Classified Documents Case
Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton has agreed to plead guilty and pay a fine of over $2 million in a case involving the unlawful retention of classified documents. He is expected to plead guilty to one count of unlawfully retaining sensitive national security documents on May 8, according to US media. Bolton was indicted last October on 18 counts under the Espionage Act for allegedly mishandling and sharing classified information, including sending more than 1,000 pages of diaries to relatives.
