Weekend Catch-Up Sleep Tied to Lower High Blood Pressure Risk, Study Finds
A new study presented at the ESC annual meeting in Munich indicates that sleeping an extra one to two hours on weekends can reduce the risk of high blood pressure, particularly in inactive individuals. The study, based on over 40,000 South Korean adults, found a 6% overall risk reduction, rising to 9% with an optimal 1 hour 37 minutes of extra sleep. However, researchers caution that excessive catch-up sleep may negate the benefits.
