Bangladesh Garment Workers Protest for Higher Minimum Wage
Tens of thousands of garment workers in Bangladesh, the world's second-largest apparel exporter, are protesting for a higher minimum wage, saying current pay no longer covers basic living costs. Police have fired tear gas and arrested dozens, while protests disrupted operations at 529 factories. Workers are demanding 30,000 taka a month, more than double the current 12,500 taka.
