Iraq’s FM says external parties using Iraqi soil to attack neighbours
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein told Al Jazeera that Baghdad has evidence external parties are using Iraqi territory to launch attacks on neighbouring countries, including Gulf states, and is investigating. Saudi Arabia has accused Iran-aligned groups operating from Iraq of targeting its oil infrastructure, and Baghdad confirmed in September that drone attacks on the kingdom's east-west pipeline originated from Iraqi soil. Hussein said Baghdad is negotiating with Iran-aligned factions to bring their weapons under state control and is in contact with Tehran, while Washington has formally requested the closure of all but two Iraq-Iran border crossings.
