Guatemalan lawmaker and three police officers killed in armed attack
Guatemalan Congressman Julio Cesar Portillo Paz and three National Civil Police officers were killed in an armed attack Friday in Rio Hondo, in the eastern Zacapa department, a region known for drug trafficking activity. President Bernardo Arevalo ordered security forces to cooperate with prosecutors as authorities investigate the killings, though no motive or suspects have been disclosed. The attack comes about three weeks after a former anti-corruption prosecutor was shot dead in Guatemala City.
