Canadian man convicted of animal cruelty for abducting Peachy the flamingo at Las Vegas hotel
A Canadian man, Mitchell Fairbarn, has been convicted of felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty after taking a 27-year-old Chilean flamingo named Peachy from its enclosure at the Flamingo hotel in Las Vegas and carrying it to his room. Prosecutors called it a malicious prank, while his defense argued he was drunk and never meant to harm the bird. He faces up to four years in prison at sentencing on Dec. 1.
