US Midterm Elections 2026
Democrats have won control of both chambers of the US Congress in the 2026 midterm elections, flipping Republican-held House and Senate seats in states including Texas, South Carolina, Iowa, Michigan and Kansas. The result is widely read as a rebuke to President Donald Trump, marking the first time in 20 years a Republican president has lost both houses. Counting continues in some races, with results possibly not final until Wednesday or later.
