Latin American Organized Crime Expands into at Least 12 European Countries
A four-month Guardian investigation has found that Latin American criminal networks from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela and elsewhere are now operating in at least 12 European countries, forging close ties with local mafias. Cocaine seizures in Europe rose 471 percent between 2014 and 2024, and officials say the true reach of these groups may be far wider than officially documented.
