Russian FM Lavrov Arrives in Tehran to Discuss US Conflict and Regional Security
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Tehran on October 19 for his first trip to Iran since February 2025, meeting President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the conflict with the US and efforts to end it. The visit followed a stop in Bahrain for Russia–GCC strategic dialogue, where Gulf states urged Moscow to press Tehran for serious talks and to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
