Zipair Tokyo Inc., the low-cost carrier owned by Japan Airlines Co., began operating a new route between Narita Airport and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday, as Japan's tourism sector benefits from a surge in international visitors.
The route marks a further expansion of Zipair's network in Southeast Asia, a market seeing growing demand for travel between Japan and countries in the region.
According to the airline, the first flight operated on launch day, connecting the Malaysian capital directly with Narita International Airport, the main aviation gateway for the Tokyo region.
The new service comes as the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan continues to rise, offering an additional option both for Malaysian travelers heading to Japan and for Japanese nationals with plans to visit Malaysia.
