On June 9, top-ranked sumo wrestler Onosato and leading colleagues arrived in Paris, France, ahead of a two-day exhibition tournament scheduled for the weekend.
According to Kyodo News, the delegation landed at Paris airport on Wednesday (local time) and is expected to take part in promotional activities and demonstration bouts in the French capital. The event is part of efforts to promote Japan's traditional sport to the world.
Among the wrestlers present are Yokozuna Hoshoryu and many other renowned fighters, forming a formidable contingent of Japanese sumo. The exhibition tournament is expected to attract a large number of fans in Europe.
