Free Bike-Share Launched for Passengers After Chiba Storm Disruptions

A free bike-share service was launched on Wednesday to help passengers get around a section of railway in Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo, where train services have yet to resume after landslides caused by a storm late last month.

According to initial information, the service is intended to give residents an alternative means of transport while the railway line is out of service, easing the strain on daily commuting between the affected area and nearby connection points.

The launch comes as officials and the railway operator continue working to deal with the aftermath of the landslides, while also seeking to meet passengers' travel needs.
