Chinese robotics manufacturer Unitree has officially set the price for its initial public offering (IPO) on the Shanghai Stock Exchange at 150.8 yuan per share. Subscription bookings are scheduled to begin Monday, with the company seeking to raise a total of 6.1 billion yuan (approximately $904 million). If successful, Unitree will become the first humanoid robot producer to list on mainland China's stock market.
The move comes amid fierce competition among Chinese humanoid robot makers to tap equity markets for funding to support research and development and expand production capacity. The humanoid robotics sector is considered one of Beijing's strategic priorities in its push to enhance technological capabilities and manufacturing self-reliance.
Unitree's listing is expected to give a significant boost to the domestic robotics industry and draw interest from both local and international investors. However, experts caution that the high valuation may reflect strong expectations for future growth, while the market still harbors potential risks related to product commercialization and international competition.
