The WHO has confirmed that the Ebola situation in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is becoming increasingly complex, with a rise in new cases in recent days. The global health agency said it is deploying emergency measures to contain and control the outbreak.
According to the WHO, rapid response teams have been dispatched to the border area between the two East African nations. Testing, contact tracing, and vaccination efforts are being intensified to prevent the virus from spreading to neighboring communities.
Uganda and the DRC have previously experienced severe Ebola outbreaks. The disease is currently assessed as high-risk in both countries, particularly in densely populated border areas where cross-border movement is frequent.
The WHO is urging the public to follow health guidelines, including regular handwashing, immediately reporting any suspicious symptoms, and supporting health workers in disease prevention efforts.
