A Kyodo News poll released on May 11 shows that the approval rating for Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's cabinet fell 2.5 percentage points from the previous survey to 61.3%.
According to the survey results, as many as 70.6% of respondents said they are worried about disruptions in the supply of naphtha—a petroleum distillate used as a raw material in the production of plastics, chemicals, and gasoline. This is one of the top public concerns in Japan amid volatile energy and input material prices.
Kyodo News conducted the telephone poll over two days on May 9–10, with more than 1,000 people nationwide participating. The results show that cabinet support remains above 60%, but has dipped slightly compared to the previous survey.
