Commander of Iran's Air Defense Force, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard, stated on December 2 that the country will continue to expand its air defense capabilities building on the achievements made in recent times.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the force's anniversary, Brigadier General Sabahifard emphasized that air defense units have effectively dealt with various threats, contributing to the protection of national airspace. He noted that in the coming period, the force will continue investing in the development of radar systems, air defense missiles, and modern equipment to enhance strength and combat readiness.
"We will continue to extend our defense coverage, improving our ability to detect and intercept targets at various altitudes and ranges," the Iranian air defense commander stated clearly.
Iran regularly conducts air defense drills and unveils new domestically produced weapon systems. According to analysts, Iran's move to expand air defense capabilities aims to bolster deterrence against potential external threats amid ongoing regional tensions.
Previously, Iran's air defense force has also coordinated with other military branches in large-scale exercises, testing defensive combat capabilities across the entire national airspace.
