A new art exhibition titled 'Art and War' officially opened at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on April 12, 2025, drawing significant interest from the public and art community.
The exhibition displays over 80 works, including photography, painting, and sculpture, exploring the theme of war from various perspectives. The pieces focus on loss, pain, and the human longing for peace. Among them, a notable series of documentary photographs from the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) taken by Iranian photographers is featured.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, curator Ali Reza Sami-Azar stated: 'Art is a powerful tool to reflect reality and promote contemplation. Through these works, we want the audience to feel the brutality of war and appreciate the value of peace.'
In addition to pieces from the museum's collection, the exhibition also features works by 15 contemporary artists who created pieces specifically for the event. Some works use recycled materials such as shrapnel and bomb casings, conveying messages of recovery and hope.
The 'Art and War' exhibition will run until the end of May 2025, with free admission for the public from Tuesday to Sunday each week.
