Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will make an official visit to Kyrgyzstan on Monday, according to Iranian media reports. This will be his latest foreign trip since taking office last July.
The visit comes as the two countries are boosting bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Kyrgyzstan and Iran have long maintained diplomatic relations, with potential areas of cooperation including energy, transportation, and agriculture.
During the visit, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold talks with Kyrgyzstan's leadership, exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and discuss measures to strengthen the strategic partnership between Tehran and Bishkek.
Earlier, Iran and Kyrgyzstan signed several cooperation agreements in the economic, cultural, and security fields. The Iranian leader's visit is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral ties and open the door to larger-scale joint projects in the future.
Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian nation sharing borders with China and Kazakhstan, is seen as one of Iran's key partners in the region. Strengthening cooperation with Bishkek is also part of Tehran's strategy to diversify its foreign relations amid shifting regional geopolitical dynamics.
