Iran's president issued a strong appeal to Islamic nations worldwide, stressing the need for unity to confront common threats.
Speaking at an international conference, the Iranian leader emphasized that divisions among Islamic countries are enabling external powers to intervene and destabilize the region. He urged member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to enhance security and economic collaboration.
The president also highlighted pressing issues such as the conflict in Gaza, instability in Yemen, and other humanitarian crises. He argued that only unified action can help Islamic nations protect their sovereignty and shared interests.
Iran has previously called for greater unity within the Islamic world, viewing it as key to reducing the influence of external powers. The latest appeal comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, particularly concerning Iran's nuclear program and Israeli strikes on Iran-aligned forces.
Analysts suggest Iran's move may face considerable challenges due to divergent interests among Islamic nations, notably between Iran and Saudi Arabia, despite both countries resuming diplomatic ties in 2023.
