Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, calling it a message of dignity and defiance. The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions.
In his message, Pezeshkian emphasized that Eid al-Adha symbolizes sacrifice and loyalty to God. He stated that the ritual conveys a message about Muslim dignity and defiance against oppressive forces.
“Eid al-Adha is an occasion to affirm our identity, dignity, and resistance against all oppression,” the Iranian president said. He called on the people of Iran and the global Muslim community to unite and overcome challenges in the light of faith.
Eid al-Adha is one of the most important Islamic festivals, lasting four days, commemorating the Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son at God’s command. It is observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Zulhijjah.
Pezeshkian’s remarks come as Iran faces numerous domestic and international challenges, including economic sanctions and tensions with Western nations. The Iranian president appeared to use the occasion to call for resilience and unity among the people.
