Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said on August 25 that she has directed relevant ministers to carry out necessary preparations to continue the subsidy program aimed at restraining domestic fuel prices.
Speaking to the media, Takaichi emphasized the importance of keeping fuel prices stable to ease the burden on citizens and businesses. The Japanese government has been applying subsidies for several months to prevent gasoline prices from rising too sharply amid significant fluctuations in global crude oil prices.
Under the plan, the price support measures will continue in the coming period to ensure a stable fuel supply and limit the impact on people's daily lives as well as business and production activities.
Takaichi's move comes as inflationary pressures and rising energy costs remain major concerns for the Japanese government. The gasoline subsidy program has been extended multiple times, and maintaining this policy underscores the administration's commitment to supporting consumers.
