Shinkansen Services Suspended in Southwestern Japan After Overhead Wire Damage

TOKYO — Bullet train services in southwestern Japan did not operate from the first departure on Tuesday after inspection staff found a damaged section of overhead wire, according to railway operator JR Kyushu.

The company said it inspected the overhead wire system and found a damaged location, forcing train operations to be suspended from the start of the day. Services are expected to resume later the same day.

JR Kyushu has not yet released details on the cause of the damage or the specific scope of the impact on routes and the number of passengers affected.
