Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have restricted US access to their airbases and airspace, bringing President Trump's 'Project Freedom' to a standstill. The plan, designed to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, was announced on social media, drawing Saudi frustration and subsequent denial of support.
President Donald Trump's 'Project Freedom' plan—aimed at supporting vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz—has been abruptly reversed after Saudi Arabia suspended the US military's use of Prince Sultan Airbase and Saudi airspace for the operation, NBC News reported citing two U.S. officials.
The report said Trump's announcement of the plan on social media last Sunday afternoon disappointed Saudi leadership. The kingdom subsequently informed Washington it would not support the initiative.
Drop Site later reported that a U.S. administration official confirmed Kuwait had also cut off American access to its bases and airspace.
