Sarina Satomi, Japan's wheelchair badminton star, is aiming to reassert her dominance at the Asian Para Games Aichi-Nagoya, a key stepping stone in her pursuit of a third consecutive Paralympic title at Los Angeles in 2028.
According to Kyodo News, Satomi is regarded as one of the focal points of the Japanese delegation at this edition of the Games, competing on home soil with the backing of a home crowd.
The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games organizers have already launched the torch relay, marking the home stretch ahead of the opening ceremony scheduled for October 18. The event is expected to draw major interest from the Japanese public as well as the para-sport community across Asia.
For Satomi, the goal in Aichi-Nagoya is not only a medal but also a statement that she remains the leading name in wheelchair badminton before she enters the buildup cycle for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics.
