Sahibzada Farhan has replaced Salman Ali Agha as Pakistan's T20 captain, ushering in changes across both the coaching staff and the squad for the upcoming three-match home series against Sri Lanka.
Farhan previously led Pakistan to a silver medal at the Asian Games, where the side lost to India in Sunday's final.
Two players recalled to the T20 squad are batter Hasan Nawaz and fast bowler Naseem Shah.
Nawaz had been out of favour since November, but he struck 96 runs in the Asian Games final before falling to the last ball as Pakistan lost by 19 runs.
Shah last played the shortest format at the T20 World Cup in February. He has also been added to the ODI squad for the upcoming triangular series involving Sri Lanka and England.
Youngster Razaullah has been rewarded for an impressive Test debut against England in Birmingham last month and has been included in both the T20 and ODI squads. He has yet to make his white-ball debut.
Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi retains the ODI captaincy in a squad that includes Agha and Babar Azam.
However, the selectors have overlooked Mohammad Rizwan, who is under investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. Rizwan was among seven players sent home after Pakistan lost the second Test against England at Lord's in August.
Khawaja Nafay is the specialist wicketkeeper for the T20 matches, while Ghazi Ghori, who made his Test debut in England, is the first-choice gloveman for the ODIs.
Rawalpindi will host the three T20s against Sri Lanka from 9 to 13 October. The triangular series begins on 18 October.
Shaun Tait returns as bowling coach
Former Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait has been appointed Pakistan's bowling coach after a recent spell with Bangladesh. Under Tait, Bangladesh beat Pakistan 2-0 in this year's Test series.
Tait replaces Ashley Noffke, who has signed with the Netherlands.
