Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the La Liga season with a 4-0 victory over newly promoted Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu. Three goals came inside the opening 30 minutes, with the fourth arriving in stoppage time.
A stunning solo effort from Jude Bellingham, an own goal from Malaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero, and a sharp volley from Kylian Mbappe settled the contest before the break. Substitute Arda Guler capped the emphatic win deep into added time.
The result leaves Real Madrid on nine points from three matches, two clear of Atletico Madrid and Alaves. Barcelona, who have six points and a game in hand, host Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
Coach Jose Mourinho made five changes from the starting lineups of the first two matches against Espanyol and Real Sociedad. Marc Cucurella made his debut for the club, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was handed a start in place of Denzel Dumfries.
Alexander-Arnold nearly opened the scoring in the first minute with a curling effort from outside the box that drifted just wide. Malaga responded in the 15th minute when Joaquin Munoz forced a sharp save from Thibaut Courtois with a right-footed strike from the edge of the area.
Bellingham broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, driving past three defenders at pace before firing a low shot into the far corner. Seven minutes later, Real Madrid doubled their lead after Herrero failed to hold a Mbappe shot. Bellingham rose to head the ball back into the box, and amid the scramble, the ball crossed the line following a collision between the Malaga keeper and his own defender.
Mbappe made it 3-0 in the 30th minute with a close-range volley from Alexander-Arnold's cross. Real Madrid eased off in the second half, although Bellingham came close to a second goal in the 55th minute when his shot struck the post.
The match drifted until Guler, soon after coming on, combined with Vinicius Junior in a quick one-two before slotting in from close range to make it 4-0.
Real Madrid return to action on Friday with a trip to Real Betis in Seville before beginning their Champions League campaign a few days later with a home match against Inter Milan.
