Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, 19, from RB Leipzig. According to Spanish media, the transfer fee for this deal could reach €140 million ($161 million), including add-ons — a figure believed to be a record for the Royal club.
In a statement on Thursday, the club said they had reached an agreement with the Bundesliga side, and Diomande will commit to the Santiago Bernabeu for seven seasons, until 30 June 2033. Real Madrid did not disclose the transfer fee details.
The Spanish club beat Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool to secure Diomande's signature. PSG withdrew due to concerns over the hefty fee, while Liverpool reportedly had a bid rejected in June.
Diomande has only one Bundesliga season under his belt with RB Leipzig, having joined from Leganes (Spain) in 2025. He immediately impressed, winning the 2025/26 Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award with 12 goals and 8 assists.
This is Real Madrid's sixth new signing of the summer transfer window, following Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Carlos Espi. The Royal club is undergoing a squad overhaul after two consecutive trophyless seasons in major competitions, now under new head coach Jose Mourinho — who recently returned to lead the team on a three-year contract, replacing Alvaro Arbeloa.
Additionally, Real Madrid are also reported to be targeting Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.
