Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, held talks with a senior Iranian official on February 14 about regional security issues, according to a statement from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the two sides focused on the security situation in their shared border areas, as well as challenges and opportunities for bilateral cooperation to enhance stability. Dar stressed the importance of close coordination between the two countries in addressing common threats, especially cross-border terrorist activities and smuggling.
Iran also expressed a desire to advance security cooperation with Pakistan, viewing it as a vital foundation for building trust and promoting peace and stability in the region. Both sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue and timely information exchange to effectively address emerging issues.
This is the latest high-level contact between Islamabad and Tehran, following a series of recent meetings aimed at boosting bilateral ties across various fields, from economy to security.
