MELBOURNE, Australia — When farmer Rhys Smoker told his housemates he had found a live frog inside a packaged salad bag, they didn't believe him.
Smoker said he discovered the tiny frog while preparing a meal. The amphibian was nestled among the lettuce leaves, alive and well. The incident took place at an Australian grocery store where Smoker had purchased the pre-packaged salad.
“I opened the bag and saw something move. At first I thought it was just a worm, but it turned out to be a frog,” Smoker recounted. He took photos and videos as evidence, then released the frog into the garden.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, with many expressing surprise and amusement. Some joked that it was a fresh form of ‘quality control’ for the produce.
