Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on August 8 stressed the need for comprehensive coordination among government agencies and market regulatory forces to protect the country's economy amid current volatility. Speaking at a meeting with senior economic officials, Pezeshkian highlighted the necessity of a smooth coordination mechanism to avoid overlapping and contradictory policies.
According to Iran's state media, President Pezeshkian directed relevant ministries to strengthen monitoring of price fluctuations and supplies of essential goods. He also instructed authorities to work closely to prevent speculation and hoarding that could destabilize the market.
Earlier, the Iranian government had introduced several measures to stabilize the exchange rate and control inflation, which are major challenges for the country's economy. Analysts suggest that the top-level directives signal Tehran's efforts to build a more coherent policy framework to address domestic and external economic pressures.
Pezeshkian's remarks also included encouragement for privatization and improvement of the investment climate, with a government commitment to remove obstacles for businesses. He called on regulatory bodies to listen to feedback from the business community and adjust policies in a timely manner, aiming for sustainable growth.
