Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday called for increased investment in new technologies, describing them as a key factor in helping Iran overcome economic challenges and strengthen its international standing.
Speaking before officials and technology experts, Pezeshkian emphasized that adopting and developing modern technologies would not only create growth momentum but also help Iran reduce its reliance on traditional revenue sources such as oil. He described technology as a “key” to solving many of the country's long-term problems, from manufacturing and agriculture to healthcare and education.
According to Pezeshkian, the government needs to build a favorable legal environment, provide financial support for start-ups, and create conditions for the private sector to engage more deeply in this field. He also called on universities and research institutes to strengthen cooperation with businesses to quickly translate research into practical applications.
Analysts assess that President Pezeshkian's move reflects the new administration's efforts to diversify the economy and seek new growth drivers amid ongoing pressures from international sanctions.
