FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed plans to invite U.S. President Donald Trump to participate in the trophy presentation at the 2026 World Cup final. Speaking on Fox News on the morning of June 4 (local time), Infantino said: “We will be with the president, enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winning team – together, of course.”
When asked to clarify that the two would jointly present the trophy at the match on July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Infantino affirmed: “Absolutely. We are always together.”
Trump previously took part in the trophy ceremony at last year’s FIFA Club World Cup final, where Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 at the same venue, staying on stage as Chelsea lifted the cup. The trophy later turned up in the Oval Office, with reports indicating Chelsea received a replica.
According to The Athletic, citing FIFA sources, Infantino aims to attend as many matches as possible at the tournament, having already watched up to two games per day. Trump has not attended any matches at this year's World Cup so far.
