Kazuma Okamoto continued to be the main offensive catalyst for the Toronto Blue Jays, but the Canadian club could not avoid a 9-7 loss to the Houston Astros after 11 innings on Tuesday (June 18).
In the marathon contest, the Blue Jays jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a home run by Okamoto, but the Astros gradually reclaimed control and tied the game 5-5 in the ninth. In the 11th inning, Houston scored four decisive runs to seal the victory.
This marked Okamoto’s third consecutive game with at least one hit, maintaining his impressive form since joining Toronto. However, the Blue Jays’ defense committed costly errors in key situations, allowing the Astros to complete the comeback.
With this result, the Blue Jays dropped to fourth place in the AL East standings, while the Astros continued to chase the top spot in the AL West. Okamoto currently ranks second on the team in runs batted in (RBI) since the start of the season.
