Shohei Ohtani reached base three times in a game in which he went just 1-for-2, after being dropped to sixth in the batting order. Even so, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now facing the threat of a sweep from the National League Championship Series after losing 6-2 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
The defeat left the Dodgers with their backs against the wall, trailing the Brewers 3-0 in the series. Ohtani's team must win four consecutive remaining games if it is to secure a place in the World Series.
In this third game, Ohtani was relatively productive, reaching base three times, but his efforts were not enough to help the Dodgers turn the tide against a Brewers side playing with plenty of momentum.
The Milwaukee Brewers made the most of their opportunities to pull ahead and held their advantage through to the end of the game. With a 3-0 lead, they need just one more win to sweep the Dodgers and advance to the World Series.
